The training “Development of strategic media campaigns to prevent and counter violent extremism” was organized


On May 25, 2022, the training “Development of strategic media campaigns to prevent and counter violent extremism” was organized in collaboration with the Interfaith Council and the Center for Research on the Religious Situation under the State Commission for Religious Affairs. At the training, the technologies for preparing and using content to prevent youth from being involved in extremist activities were discussed. The training was held in the form of a dialogue. REOC Communications Director Richard Chalk spoke about his experience with media strategies and campaigns aimed at those who wanted to go to Syria or were recruited in the UK. The Project Coordinator of Albany Associates/REOC Communications for Kyrgyzstan Galina Kolodzinskaia said that the Global Media Center project Council and is designed to help local stakeholders develop  content based on emotive narratives that allow the government to counter the pread of violent extremist ideologies online.

“Public Research Guide” was presented


On November 18, 2021, the “Public Research Guide” was presented as part of the programme “Holistic CVE Strategic Communications” in the Kyrgyz Republic. The “Public Research Guide” is an in-depth practical handbook on how to develop public data research methods designed to empower and improve the understanding of violent extremism communications between key audiences in the Kyrgyz Republic. The guide was prepared in close collaboration with the Center for the Study of the Religious Situation under the SCRA KR. It was developed during a series of online working group meetings on research design, and it allowed ongoing participation and input from all stakeholders and to provide a forum for transferring skills on best practices of public research methodologies and techniques.

training course on Descriptive Statistics was held for employees of the Interfaith Council, SCRA, CIRS and the Ministry of Internal


On October 8, 2021, a training course on Descriptive Statistics was held for employees of the Interfaith Council, SCRA, CIRS and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Statistical methods help to provide an accurate, informative representation and interpretation of information or observations. The training sessions were conducted with the support of Albany Associates and REOC Communications.

Terrorists Use of the Internet


On August 19, 2021, an online conference was held on the topic: the Terrorists Use of the Internet. This regional project aims to counter disinformation through fact-checking and media literacy. With the support of Albany Associates, online training sessions were attended by employees of the “Interfaith Council”, The SCRA of Kyrgyzstan and CIRS, as well as other government agencies involved in the implementation of the National Plan to Combat Extremism and Terrorism in Kyrgyzstan.

Carpentry studio was opened in the city of Karakol


In 2014, a carpentry studio was opened in the city of Karakol, where orphans can acquire professional skills and qualifications that will allow them to realize themselves in the future aging out of the orphanage. In addition, two more charitable projects were implemented in Karakol: the creation of four jobs in a beauty salon for unemployed women from large families and the purchase of equipment for sewing courses for unemployed women. These sewing courses will train 20-25 seamstresses annually.

The Interfaith Council has assisted Dastan Bekeshev


Since the beginning of 2014, the Interfaith Council has assisted Dastan Bekeshev, deputy of the 7th convocation, in purchasing medical equipment for a deaf-mute girl. In addition, assistance was provided to the crisis center for women “Ruki Lyubvi(Hands of Love)” which was experiencing an acute shortage of basic necessities. In March 2014, a charitable project was implemented, together with a group of teachers, to provide financial aid to 35 low-income families with multiple children in the suburbs of Bishkek, who, unfortunately, were not registered with the relevant government services and did not receive any state support. At the end of August 2014, the same families were given humanitarian assistance and provided with all the necessary stationery and backpacks for  their school-aged children.

“Interfaith Council” implemented a number of charitable development projects


In 2013-2014, “Interfaith Council” implemented a number of charitable development projects. For example, a mini-poultry farm was created at the city orphanage No. 11 in the town of Tokmak. As a result, the family orphanage received an additional source of self-financing.

The Interfaith Council took an active part in seminars


In June-July 2013, the Interfaith Council took an active part in seminars organized by the Public Foundation “Open Viewpoint”, the Norwegian Helsinki Committee and the OSCE Center in Bishkek. On August 21, 2013, the Interfaith Council held the third international interreligious conference on the topic of “Religion and Security”. In the summer, teams of religious leaders from different faiths visited remote regions of the country where interfaith clashes had taken place. The trips were meant to promote an interfaith dialogue and a culture of tolerance in the society, as well as to create interreligious groups, consisting of religious leaders of different faiths, to prevent interreligious conflicts at the level of local communities.

The Interfaith Council, together with the mayor’s office of Bishkek, held a community work day


In April 2013, the Interfaith Council, together with the mayor’s office of Bishkek, held a community work day in South Gate Park and planted several dozen seedlings. The Interfaith Council was assisted by the State Commission for Religious Affairs in organizing this event in collaboration with municipal authorities.

Interfaith Council


In August 2012, a working group of religious leaders of the future “Interfaith Council” organized a fundraiser to open two sewing rooms and one welding studio in the suburbs of Osh city which were the most affected during the tragic events of June 2010.
